In the Hands of a Child

Nothing is more poignant than holding a child's hands. Nothing is more special than knowing that within the smooth skin of a life that has only begun lies endless possibilities. Holding the small hands of a grandchild gives a hope for the future, knowing the wisdom of the past can be passed down with them. The wrinkles, sun spots, scars, and imperfections are only testaments to the life lived. Many struggles, tests, joys, and celebrations have these hands experienced. It is a grandparent's only hope that while holding little hands, that these precious children may learn a little and remember those lessons long after the grandparent’s time on earth is done. Does this child feel how much love rests within this grip? Only when they themselves become a grandparent will they know how much love flows from these weathered fingers into the palm of a life just ready to blossom. Nothing is more cherished and beloved than the love of a grandparent.
